PAUL KOOPERMAN, EDUCATION OFFICER

Paul Kooperman is a prolific screenwriter.
His feature script Wil was produced in 2006 and had a limited independent release in Australia,
screening at The Classic and the Nova in Melbourne. Wil won Best Picture at the Independents Film Festival in Florida,
Best Director at the Rhode International Film Festival and received Official Selection at the Hollywood Film Festival,
Cardiff Film Festival and others.
Paul was an inhouse writer for Stacey Testro (EP of the SAW horror films) in 2006. Paul has worked as a writer for
Home and Away and as a Script Co-ordinator for The Wedge, Wicked Science 2 and StreetSmartz.
He lectures in screenwriting and has two books published on how to write films.
In addition to screenwriting, Paul has also been commissioned to undertake a number of other writing assignments
including a set of three books entitled ‘Plays Across the Curriculum’, by Macmillan Education (published September 2008)
and a musical, called Woman on Top, for which he raised the finance for script development
and a workshop production scheduled for 2009.
Paul has most recently been awarded a CAL (Copyright Agency Limited) professional development grant
to attend a Writing Festival in Singapore, hosted by Word Forward, in order to run workshops on screenwriting
and mentor young writers who attend the festival.

The Australian Poetry Centre is a not-for-profit, incorporated association established to promote reading,
writing and publishing activities associated with Australian poetry in all of its forms.
The APC, launched 7 June 2007, is funded by Copyright Agency Limited (CAL) and has grown out of the
important work of Ron Pretty and the Poetry Australia Foundation.

The objectives of the APC are to:
*strengthen the presence and profile of Australian poetry within Australia and overseas
*promote the writing, reading, and appreciation of poetry as an integral part of personal and community life


In furthering these objectives, the APC will:
*contribute to policy development in government, corporate, educational and community agencies
*support the publishing, distribution, marketing, and reviewing of poetry
*advance the writing of poetry and the better understanding of poetry in schools and universities,
and also in the wider community
*establish networks and links between writers, readers, publishers, and poetry-related organisations
in Australia and overseas
*present, participate in, or support forums such as websites, readings, festivals, conferences and journals


The APC will develop and provide products and services, such as:

*a national journal of high quality poetry, articles and reviews
*a comprehensive library of Australian poetry
*workshops and seminars
*poetry competition activities
*comprehensive website information and services
*educational and promotional materials
*support for reading tours by Australian and overseas
