MARTIN HOOPER
RESEARCHING AND WRITING FAMILY HISTORY

In 2008 Dr Martin Hooper had published a family history, ‘Seachange for William & Elizabeth Hooper’.
This is the story of his grandparents who migrated from England in 1883 and selected land on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
They established a successful farm and had 12 children.
The eldest son was an ANZAC who survived Gallipoli but died on the Western Front.
Martin has just completed ‘The Scottish Connection: The Whitecrosses and The MacFarlanes’
which tells of his mother’s ancestors who came from Scotland in 1862.
In this presentation and discussion session, Martin will talk about getting started in family research,
exploring the web and accessing databases.
He will outline and discuss various approaches to recording and writing up family history information.
