Career
Have sung in pubs, clubs and folk and contemporary. An old hipster, troubadour, sole-parent while returning to study at 36 years.
In 2005 I left while attempting to complete a Master's Canditure (one year to go).
La Trobe Uni had given up or actually it was consensus that I do my Master's in "Life Writing"
but with the corporate changes I felt and received good advice from a very good friend and lecturer to get out of there!
I came to the decision to move on and write later at Home.
Completing an Honours Degree working P/T and bringing two kids up took its toll and after being nomadic for a while
and the kids left home, I finally settled on the Bellarine and love it - feels like home.
I missed a fair amount early education; being brought up in a "tradies" working class family
and my own brand of rebel without a clue stuff -
and alongside my mother's middleclass aspirations and DNA; as she was born in 1911 and still alive today.
I call her Grandma Lazarus - her stories could make up a volume of 'War and Peace'.
Eddie is 100 years old in 2011.
At a young age I thought it was all too busy at school and used to go home at playtime.
My mum would give me belt and tongue lashing and escort me back on the back of her bike.
This went on for a while - years in fact.
My 'old man' Dad would let me stay home when Mum not home. Says a lot I think.
Now my curious experiences are written intuitively not like I am trying to build leggo anymore, (so to speak), when writing.
My experience at writing is auto-didactic and eclectic even sometime dyslectsic.
My Nickname is Chae (pronounced shay) and is well-earned and nostalgic - was given freely by close friends who go way way back.
I am still a rebel but with a clue - hopefully (don't want to be too cocky).
