ACTORS FOR REFUGEES

ANNE PHELAN 03/10 The winner of 8 Best Actress Awards, Anne’s versatility as an actress and singer has allowed her to work in all aspects of the industry for the past 41 years including TV, stage, film, theatre restaurant and radio. Anne recently completed a very successful four-week NSW regional tour of her biographical show An Accidental Actress. This is the first stage of an anticipated national tour. CORPORATE Anti-Cancer Council “Breast Health” Video Anne is the patron of “Positive Women” (Victoria) – a support and advocacy group run by, and for women living with the HIV Virus. Anne is the recipient of the Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS 2002 Activist Of The Year Award for outstanding contribution to the fight against HIV/AIDS. Anne is also a member of Actors For Refugees – a group of performers who volunteer their time and talent to tell the true stories of Australia's refugees and asylum seekers. Anne is currently on a taskforce called Images Of Age which has been set up by the Department of Human Services (Vic) to encourage a more realistic representation of older people in film, television and theatre. Anne is fast gaining a reputation as an accomplished and highly sought-after public speaker and is the recipient of the REGIONAL ARTS VICTORIA DON MACKAY AWARD (2006) for OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN REGIONAL TOURING. Anne has been included in the inaugural Who’s Who of Australian Women 2006 In 2007 Anne was awarded an Order Of Australia (OAM) for service to the Arts and for her work in the community. In 2008 Anne was inducted onto The Victorian Honor Role of Women for her significant contribution to the Victorian Community.
